CIC Alters Policy on use of Email

Posted By David Cohen On February 1, 2001

Following the recent publication of the email addresses of immigration officials at visa offices worldwide, the Citizenship and Immigration department has issued a Memorandum stating that email should not be used to respond to inquiries about cases.

This policy includes those correspondences, by either the applicant or a professional representative, which contain an authorization to divulge personal information via the internet.

This policy applies to external email, and not to those emails which originate from within the Department or its associated bodies.
