More than 40,000 permanent residents from the Philippines became permanent residents of Canada in 2014. That figure is up from 29,539 in 2013, making the Philippines the top source country for Canadian immigration last year. China had been the top source country in 2013. >>Read More

• Canada Lifts Visa Ban For Ebola-Free Liberia

After 42 days with no new cases of Ebola in Liberia, the West African country has been declared Ebola-free, leading Canada to lift a visa ban that was introduced in late October, 2014. This ban halted the processing of visa requests from those in countries experiencing widespread Ebola infections, including Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia. >>Read More

• Early Express Entry Data Shows Nearly Half Of Top Candidates Were Already In Canada

Internal data from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), covering the first three weeks of January, 2015, shows that 45 percent of the top 775 candidates in the Express Entry pool were already residing in Canada. The report was obtained through an Access to Information request. >>Read More

The province of Nova Scotia has this week announced details of a new immigration stream for Canadian Immigration under its Nova Scotia Nominee Program.  Canada Announces Expansion To China Transit Program

The government of Canada has announced that an expansion will be made to the China Transit Program (CTP), which allows eligible Chinese citizens to transit through Canada without a visa when they are travelling to and from the United States. >>Read More
