B.C. issues 311 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination in latest draw

British Columbia held a provincial nominee program draw on March 30, inviting 311 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) invited candidates under two immigration categories: Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration.

In order for candidates to be selected through the Express Entry BC Category, they must have a valid profile in the federal Express Entry pool.

Express Entry is Canada’s main pathway for skilled immigrants who want to obtain Canadian permanent residence.

Express Entry manages applications for three of Canada’s main economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates who are eligible for Express Entry are given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on human capital factors such as work experience, education, official language proficiency, and age.

Those candidates nominated through the Express Entry BC provincial nominee program will be awarded an additional 600 CRS points, effectively guaranteeing them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

The Skills Immigration Category is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in the province. Both categories require candidates to register using B.C.’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which provides eligible candidates with a score based on factors such as their offer of employment, location in B.C., education, language ability, and wage.

The minimum score requirements were between 102 and 105 in the latest selection round.
