The Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream reached its registration limit just hours after opening.

Ontario says that registration for the stream is now closed until further notice.

Ontario will begin accepting applications to the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream tomorrow, July 21.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is expecting an influx of users to access the portal tomorrow. They say users may be placed in a priority queue, and if this happens it is not a technical error. The system will automatically prevent further registrations from being submitted once the limit has been met.

People applying for this stream must access the OINP e-Filing Portal directly from the government’s webpage. Click the button that says “Submit an application.” The OINP recommends not using a mobile phone to submit the application. The process takes about three hours to complete, according to the government webpage.

The Foreign Worker stream had opened for one day earlier this year. There was a brief pause in intake due to technical issues but the window to apply opened and closed on the same day, March 3.

In order to be eligible for this pathway to permanent residence, candidates need a job offer from an employer in Ontario. The Foreign Worker stream is available to candidates living in Ontario and abroad.

Important changes to forms

The OINP says applicants must submit the most recent version of the Employer Form, even though the form says that it must be submitted within six months from the date of signing. Otherwise, the application will be returned as incomplete.

This change is a response to the current economic and employment conditions brought on by the coronavirus outbreak.

However, if applicants are able to register in time tomorrow, they will have 14 days to complete and submit the application. This time can be used to upload an up-to-date Employer Form.

The OINP has also revised the ‘Regulatory Compliance Information’ section B of the Employer Form. It now indicates whether the employer’s business is currently compliant under the Ontario Employment Standards Act 2000 and the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.

“Carefully have your employer review the information listed in the Employer Form to respond accurately in order to avoid unnecessary delays in the processing of your application,” the OINP webpage says.

What to do in case of technical difficulties

In case of technical issues, or applications affected by system maintenance, the OINP says to contact them directly at their email address: ontarionominee@ontario.ca, and include a screenshot, showing the time and date stamp along with details about how the error occurred.

The e-Filing system will be under maintenance starting tonight, July 20 at 5 p.m. EST until July 21. No end time is given.

The OINP will not be accepting registrations or applications during this time. Anyone whose application is affected by the system maintenance should contact the OINP at their email address.
