Nineteen immigrants across Canada became citizens in an online ceremony this Canada day.

This is the first time in history that people would take the oath of citizenship from coast to coast to coast at the same time.

Since April 1, Canada has held over 1,000 virtual citizenship ceremonies. The in-person ceremonies scheduled for late March were cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The 19 new Canadian citizens range in age from six to 66, and represent 13 different countries of origin. They came to the ceremony that was live-streamed on Vimeo from their homes in B.C., Yukon, Northwest Territories, the Atlantic provinces and others.

In lieu of a post-ceremony luncheon, the new citizens received a delivery from Tim Hortons to their respective homes.
