British Columbia and Ontario have issued more nominations to immigration candidates through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).

Candidates were invited in two separate draws for their professional experience within in-demand sectors of the Canadian economy or a mixture of their skilled work experience and language abilities in English and French.

Note: Each PNP uses its own scoring system to rank candidates’ eligibility for immigration. These scores should not be compared across different PNPs.

British Columbia

On the 24th of September the British Columbia PNP (BCPNP) invited a total of at least 146 candidates through the Skilled Worker, International Graduate stream. Candidates were invited for their professional experience in in-demand positions in the province. Cut-off scores and the number of initiations issued to candidates varied based on their professional experience; and were as follows:

Draw TypeMinimum ScoreNumber of Invitations

The Skilled Worker, International Graduate stream offers recent graduates from eligible Canadian post-secondary institutions a pathway to permanent residence (PR) in British Columbia. To be eligible, applicants must have completed a degree, diploma, or certificate in the past three years and have a full-time job offer from an employer in the province. The job must fall under a National Occupation Classification (NOC) Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) category 1, 2, or 3.

Applicants must also meet language requirements, have a wage offer consistent with B.C. standards, be qualified for the position, and demonstrate financial self-sufficiency.

The International Graduate stream also features an Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option, making it an enhanced provincial immigration stream. Enhanced provincial pathways are aligned with Canada’s federal Express Entry system and allow candidates in the federal pool the opportunity to receive a nomination from a province, yielding an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score points.

Ontario

On September 26th the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)—Ontario’s PNP—issued 243 notifications of interest (NOIs) to immigration candidates through the French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream. To be invited candidates needed a CRS score between 290 and 445.

The French Speaking Skilled Worker stream allows eligible foreign workers with the necessary skilled work experience, language proficiency (in English and French), and education, a chance to be nominated for permanent residency in Canada by the Ontario provincial government. To be eligible, applicants must have a valid profile in the Express Entry system and receive an NOI from Ontario before applying online for nomination. Note that this stream is enhanced, meaning that it is aligned with the Express Entry system.
