An easy way to see your eligibility for all Express Entry-PNP streams

Foreign nationals seeking permanent residence through Express Entry can now complete a single web form to see their eligibility for all Express Entry-aligned (enhanced) Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP).

Obtaining a provincial nomination all but guarantees success in receiving an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence through the Express Entry system, as it provides an additional 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), as well as opening up eligibility for PNP draws.

Navigating Canada’s 20+ enhanced PNPs used to be a time-consuming, manual process, requiring hiring a representative or reading hundreds of pages of PDFs.

With the online tool CanadaVisa+ (CV+), you can assess your eligibility for all enhanced PNP streams at once in 10 minutes or less.

Using CV+ to assess your eligibility

You can access CanadaVisa+ through any web browser, on desktop or on mobile, where you’ll complete a web form for your assessment.

1. Navigate to the CanadaVisa+ Assessment form and click the “Start Free Assessment Now” button

2. Follow the steps to complete the assessment form

Most questions are straightforward and require no specialized knowledge.

But categorizing your work experience may be a bit trickier.

You’ll need to classify your jobs using the Canadian federal government’s National Occupation Classification (NOC) System.

The NOC assigns a unique 5-digit code to each occupation, based on the roles and responsibilities you performed—not on your job title.

To find the correct NOC for your work experience while using the assessment form, use the following steps:

• Enter your occupation title into the form space provided when adding your work experience. Relevant NOC titles and codes will appear in the drop-down menu.
  • If you cannot find your exact job title, try alternate titles, as occupation names can vary within the NOC system.
• Once you find an occupation that may be a match to your work experience, you can click on the “see duties” link below. This will trigger a pop-up with a complete description of the occupation, allowing you to verify the duties of that job and compare it to your own work experience.

If most of the main duties conform to the duties that you performed, then you have likely found the correct NOC for your work experience.

3. Upon completion of the form, enter your email address and relevant information to view your full results.

Signing up will allow you to save your profile and update it accordingly—it will also allow CV+ to show how your immigration outlook changes over time, suggest what you can do to increase your eligibility, and keep you up to date on relevant immigration updates.

4. Once you have signed up, navigate to the “Provincial Nominations” tab at the top of the page.

CV+ will display a full list of enhanced PNP programs and show you your eligibility for each one. You can also filter by province and consideration “type.”

How can I build eligibility for enhanced pathways using CV+?

If you are not currently eligible for any enhanced PNP pathways, you can use CV+ to better guide you on how to build eligibility for a specific pathway as well.

You can browse all the PNP streams and drill down into each stream to see which eligibility criteria you’re lacking, allowing you to plan how to build the necessary eligibility, for example, through increasing your language score(s) and/or gaining additional work experience or education.

In the example above, we can see that the candidate meets all the criteria except for the job offer. If they obtain a qualifying job offer from a Health Authority, they will be eligible for that stream and can proceed to follow the consideration process that CV+ presents in the stream description.

Whenever you update your profile, CV+ automatically re-runs your assessment, so you always see your most up-to-date eligibility for enhanced PNP streams.
