British Columbia extends over 270 invitations to high economic impact candidates in latest draw

On June 18, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) invited a total of 279 high economic impact candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

Invitations were issued to candidates who qualified under one of two selection factors: wage or salary tied to a TEER 0–3 job offer, or profile registration score.

This marks the BCPNP’s 13th round of selections in 2026, and seventh draw targeting Skills Immigration (SI) candidates.

Of the total number of invitations issued in this draw, the majority were extended based on registration score (53.4%).

The selection criteria fall under the province’s “Innovate” initiative. The province notes that under the Innovate initiative, it will issue high economic impact invitations to “top talent in all sectors.”

British Columbia did not publish the occupations or sectors of candidates invited in this draw.

It’s important to note that not all high economic impact invitations are based on wage/salary and job offer or registration score. Future invitations may be based on any of the following SI selection factors:

• Education, including level, field of study, and where it was completed;
• Professional designation in the province;
• Length and skill level of work experience;
• Language proficiency;
• Occupation;
• Wage and/or skill level of the job offer;
• Intention to live and work in a specific region of the province; and/or
• Strategic priorities that support provincial labour market needs, projects, or initiatives.

At just 279 invitations, this is the smallest SI draw conducted by the province in 2026 thus far.

To compare, the province’s largest SI draw occurred on April 22, through which 484 candidates were invited based on the same selection criteria.

As of June 18, the province has issued 2,764 invitations to apply through its SI category.

This year, British Columbia has also held six selection rounds under its Entrepreneur Immigration (EI) category, through which no less than 54 entrepreneurs have been invited.

How many candidates are in the SI registration pool?

As of June 2 (the latest available data), there were a total of 9,902 registrations in the BCPNP’s SI registration pool.

The greatest share of candidates can be found in the 100–109 score range (20.6%).
