British Columbia has held a new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, inviting 87 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination on June 9.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) invited immigration candidates to apply from the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories.

The minimum provincial score requirement for each category was 82.

In order to receive an invitation through the Express Entry BC category candidates must have profiles in the federal Express Entry system.

Express Entry is the federal government's application management system. Express Entry candidates are given points based on human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language proficiency in English or French.

Candidates who receive a provincial nomination are automatically awarded an additional 600 CRS points that go toward a subsequent federal Express Entry draw, and effectively guaranteed to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.

B.C. recently announced it was extending its Tech Pilot for another year until June 2021. The pilot enables tech foreign workers with a job offer in one of 29 occupations. The job offer must be a minimum of one year long and there needs to be at least 120 days remaining in the job offer at the time the candidate submits their application to B.C.
