PNP Results: July 29th to August 3rd

Ontario

The Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OINP) held provincial draws under three different nomination streams:

The largest draw took place under the Skilled Trades stream, as the Ontario issued 2,855 Notifications of Interest (NOIs)—the OINP equivalent of an invitation to apply (ITA)—to candidate with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score range between 250-516.

The province also invited 755 candidates with a minimum OINP points score of 48 and above, under the Master’s Graduate stream. Additionally, 84 candidates with a score of 39 points of more were invited under the PhD Graduate stream.

British Columbia

British Columbia’s Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) held two provincial nominee draws on August 1st.

Under the Skilled Worker International Graduate (with EEBC (Express Entry aligned) option) British Columbia held targeted draws for in-demand occupations, issuing:

• 132 invitations to tech workers with a minimum BCPNP score of 88;
• 39 invitations to early childhood educators and assistants with a minimum BCPNP score of 60;
• 23 invitations to healthcare workers with a minimum score of 60; and
• At least one invitation to candidates in other targeted professions, with a minimum score of 60.

The BCPNP also held a draw for Entrepreneur immigration candidates issuing at least one invitation under the base Entrepreneur Immigration stream, and at least one more under the Regional Pilot stream.

Alberta

The Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (AAIP) issued invitations under two different streams on August 1st.

Under the Priority Sector, Agriculture occupation stream, the AAIP issued 32 NOIs to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 322.

Additionally, 11 NOIs were sent to candidates in the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 317.

Prince Edward Island

On August 3rd the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) held a draw under the Labour & Express Entry stream. The PEI PNP issued 58 invitations to candidates working in Healthcare, Manufacturing, Food Processing, Construction, Hotel/Accommodation, and Agriculture sectors. No minimum CRS score was announced for this draw.

About the PNP

The PNP today is Canada’s main pathway for economic immigration. The program was initially started to spread the benefits of immigration throughout Canada.

In recent years the PNP has become a more prominent fixture of Canada’s immigration policy, especially as provinces look to address their labour and demographic shortages more closely through immigration.

In addition to the traditional PNP (which all provinces in Canada run, except Quebec and Nunavut run), provinces have the option of nominating candidates in the federal Express Entry pool—otherwise called an Enhanced Provincial Nomination. This enhanced nomination gives Express Entry candidates an extra 600 CRS points, all but guaranteeing they will receive an ITA.

Between 2023 and 2025 the PNP is expected to welcome 333,000 newcomers to Canada.
