Q. I have 4+ years of work experience in one of listed occupations in occupation open list but since last two years I am self employed (teaching students at home). My question to all experts is it possible to apply under the Skilled Worker category if you have required experience with in last ten years but presently you are not employed but are running your own business or self employed.

Answer: As long as you have the minimum requisite one year of experience in an eligible occupation within the past 10 years, it is possible to apply in the skilled worker program, regardless of your present occupation. Also, even if you are presently self employed, the duties performed as part of such may still be consistent with an eligible occupation according to the National Occupational Classification.
