Webinar: Career Success and Communication Skills in Canada (Oct 27, 2016)

By WES Global Talent Bridge

As a skilled immigrant, developing your workplace communication skills may be one of the most important factors in achieving your career goals in Canada. Many job developers, employers and recruiters consider “communication skills” as one of the most important skills for job search and career success here.

Whether you immigrated here or were born and raised in Canada, your career path will be heavily influenced by how well you communicate in the workplace.

Good communication is not just about speaking English well. While score tests such as the TOEFL and the Canadian Language Benchmarks can accurately measure your language abilities, they don’t measure communication skills as a whole. The tone of your voice, your body language, cultural sensitivity, your sense of humour, and others, are all important aspects of effective workplace communication. Even someone with high language test scores may struggle with the “soft skills” of communication.  It is, therefore, good practice to get feedback from friends, colleagues, or even a professional communication specialist to ensure that you are communicating effectively and making a positive impression.

So what are good communication skills in the workplace? How can you practise them? And how can you make sure you’re communicating in a way that’s helpful for everyone involved?

To find answers to these important questions, join WES Global Talent Bridge’s upcoming webinar:
