More than 300 immigration candidates managed to register successfully in the recent opening of Ontario's Masters Graduate Stream before a technical error brought it to a premature end.

In an updated published March 19, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) said 333 people managed to get their registrations in before the problem occurred.

The OINP had a target of 1,000 registrations for the March 5 opening and said it will reopen the stream "as soon as possible, once we know the system issues have been fully addressed."

The March 5 opening of the Masters Graduate Stream was its first in nearly a year, a fact that led to widespread frustration among users affected by the glitch.

The Masters Graduate Stream is open to international graduates with a master’s degree obtained at an eligible university in Ontario.

The popular stream does not require a job offer in Ontario in order to be eligible for a nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and competition is such that the quota is usually met within an hour or two of opening.
