Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba invite candidates in this week’s PNP results
Three Canadian provinces have nominated candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) this week.
Because immigration is shared between the federal and provincial governments, provinces are able to select the economic immigration candidates that they feel will integrate easily into the local economy and labour force. A nomination makes a candidate’s application for permanent residence much stronger when they apply to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Provinces are allocated a limited number of nominations they can use to invite candidates. The number of nominations a province is allocated depends on factors such as the population, the local economy, available settlement services for newcomers and more.

All Canadian provinces and territories have PNPs except Nunavut and Quebec. Quebec has a separate agreement with the federal government that gives it the authority to select all its own economic immigrants, rather than just an allocated amount.
Provincial immigration results December 2-8
Ontario
Ontario held three separate draws for candidates in the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
While all candidates were in the same stream, the three draws targeted different attributes. The largest draw was for 1,663 candidates in healthcare and STEM occupations and a minimum score of 43.
Another draw was for candidates in skilled trades occupations. The province invited 761 candidates in these occupations with a minimum score of 34.
The final draw targeted 13 candidates in the Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP). No minimum score was required. The EMPP is a pathway for skilled refugees and other displaced people to immigrate to Canada.
British Columbia
British Columbia held four targeted draws on December 5 for for 193 Skilled Worker and International Graduate candidates of the BC PNP.
The largest of the draws was for 92 candidates in tech occupations. Candidates needed a minimum score of 94 in the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
The province also invited 46 early childhood educators and assistants and 24 candidates in healthcare occupations with a minimum score of 60.
The final draw was for candidates in a construction occupation. The 31 invited candidates needed a minimum SIRS score of 75.
Manitoba
On December 4 the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) invited 117 candidates as part of the special immigration measures for those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Candidates in this draw received a nomination if they were:
- A citizen of Ukraine;
- Had a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark of 4 in each language band;
- Had an established connection to Manitoba
- Had a valid language test;
- Had a score at least 60 points according to MPNP assessment criteria; and
- Could satisfy all other requirements of the Skilled Worker Overseas pathway, including sufficient settlement funds.
