New Brunswick holds multiple draws, issuing invitations to apply to hundreds of PNP candidates

Between October 6 and 9, the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NB PNP) held three draws and issued invitations to over 500 candidates.

Invitations were issued through the New Brunswick Express Entry stream for candidates with employment in the province, and through the Skilled Worker stream for those working in priority occupations.

Summary of New Brunswick October draws

A total of 522 invitations to apply were sent to candidates across the two streams.

The cut-off date and time for applications submitted for all the draws was October 5, 11:59 pm Atlantic Standard Time.

The province also clarified that not all applications submitted in response to these three draws will be processed by the provincial government in 2025.

No cut-off scores were announced for these draws.

New Brunswick Express Entry Stream

The New Brunswick Express Entry stream is for skilled foreign nationals in the federal Express Entry pool.

To receive an invitation through its Employment in New Brunswick pathway, one must

Be working full time in a non-seasonal position for a New Brunswick employer in a Training, Eduation, Experience, and Responsibilities (TEER*) 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation;
Have at least 12 months of full-time work experience in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 role in New Brunswick; and
Have lived in New Brunswick for the past 12 months.

*TEER is a classification system used by the government to group occupations together depending on the amount of training, education, experience and responsibility typically required for that occupation.

*In the New Brunswick graduate pathway, the October 6-7 draw did not include the National Occupational Classification (NOC) Code 75101 – Material handlers. The NOC is Canada's national system for describing and classifying occupations.

The New Brunswick Skilled Worker stream is for foreign nationals who are currently employed or have a job offer for a full-time, non-seasonal position with an eligible New Brunswick employer who is willing to support their application.

Apart from that, they need to meet other criteria:

New Brunswick Experience

Have at least six months of full-time work experience with the supporting employer; and
Have been living in the province for at least six months prior to submitting an expression of interest.

New Brunswick Graduates

The job offer must be the direct result of a recruitment mission organized by the Government of New Brunswick;
The position’s NOC must fall under one of the priority NOC codes; and
The candidate must have a minimum of one year of paid work experience related to the position.

New Brunswick draws in 2025

New Brunswick has issued a total of 3,589 invitations to apply for provincial nomination in 2025, as of the time of writing.

New Brunswick was initially given 1,500 nomination spots for its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in February 2025. In June, the province successfully negotiated another 1,500 spots, increasing its total 2025 PNP allocation to 3,000 nominations.

The number of invitations issued is usually higher than the number of nominations received to account for candidates who decline, withdraw, or fail to meet requirements.

Furthermore, on account of processing times for both the application for nomination and the application for permanent residency, an invitation for nomination issued in a given year will often contribute toward landings targets for the following year.

Once a candidate receives an invitation to apply, they can submit their application to the provincial government. If the application meets all the requirement, the province will them nominate the candidate by issuing a nomination certificate.

A candidate can use this nomination certificate to apply to the federal government for permanent residence (PR).
