Ontario issues more than 1,800 invitations in first draws of the year

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) held six draws on February 2, 2026, issuing a total of 1,825 invitations to apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination.

These targeted draws were held through the province’s Employer: Job Offer streams, and focused on physicians, Regional Economic Development candidates through Immigration (REDI), and health occupations, plus early childhood educators and assistants.

These draws represent the OINP’s first immigration selection round of 2026.

What is the REDI pilot, and how does it fit into the OINP’s employer streams?

The Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot is a regional initiative under the OINP designed to help employers in smaller/rural and northern areas attract skilled workers when local hiring can’t meet demand.

REDI operates within Ontario’s existing Employer Job Offer streams (rather than being a separate stream).

In practice, eligible candidates must meet the requirements of an Employer Job Offer stream and have a full-time job offer located in one of the pilot regions—Lanark County, Leeds and Grenville, Sarnia-Lambton, or Thunder Bay. There are no extra REDI-specific criteria or a separate application; candidates can be selected through targeted draws.

What invited candidates need to do next

Candidates who received an invitation must submit a complete application to the OINP within the program’s deadline (60 days) and requirements.

After receiving a provincial nomination from Ontario, successful nominees can apply directly to the federal government of Canada for permanent residence (PR).
