Between April 15–27, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issued more invitations to apply, through four provincial immigration pathways.

The province extended no less than 185 invitations to healthcare, law enforcement, tourism, and hospitality professionals.

The AAIP’s four latest draws targeted candidates through the following provincial immigration streams:

  • Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Health Care);
  • Dedicated Health Care Pathway – non- Express Entry;
  • Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway; and
  • Tourism and Hospitality Stream.

Cutoff scores and the number of invitations issued varied by draw—with the largest share of invitations extended through the April 27 Tourism and Hospitality Stream selection.

The April 15 and April 16 draws, both of which targeted healthcare professionals, align with the AAIP’s 2026 key priorities announced earlier this year.

To date, the province has issued no fewer than 5,218 invitations to AAIP candidates, with the majority (3,025) extended through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Provincial nomination figures

The federal government granted Alberta a total of 6,403 nomination slots for its Provincial Nominee Program in 2026.

As of April 29, the province has issued a total of 1,849 nominations—leaving 4,554 nominations still available.

Alberta notes that it has 1,469 provincial nomination applications in its inventory currently awaiting processing.

The AAIP shares data outlining how its nomination allocation is divided among its various streams and pathways, in addition to the number of nominations already issued and those still available.

The province also notes that it has used some of the nominations allotted to provinces and territories (in addition to those granted through PNPs) to bring in practice-ready physicians and francophone speakers.

So far this year, Alberta has issued the following number of nominations for each group:

  • Practice-ready physicians: 50
  • Francophones: 12

Alberta also publishes stream-by-stream data on the number of EOIs and provincial nomination applications it has in its inventory—the only province to do so.

As of April 29, 2026, there were 41,763 worker EOIs in its candidate pool, with the majority (about 63.8%) being for the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
