Draw details
NLPNP candidates received the largest share of invitations in this draw, at 81.6%.
| Program | Invitations issued |

| NLPNP | 84 |
| AIP | 19 |
The province does not publicly declare which streams of the NLPNP candidates were invited under, or which occupations were targeted in this draw.
This was Newfoundland and Labrador’s most modest draw of 2026 so far, with invitation numbers continuing to steadily and consistently trend downward.
You can compare the May 28 draw against previous draws held by the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) over the course of this year, below:
| Date of draw | Invitations issued | Invitations issued by program |

As of May 28, the province has invited a total of 1,379 provincial immigration candidates to apply for nomination (NLPNP) or endorsement (AIP) in 2026.
Of the total invitations issued this year, most have gone to NLPNP candidates (83.9%).
Considering the January 1–May 28 invitation period, the province has already issued 795 more invitations in 2026 than it did in 2025, over the same time. Over this period in 2025, the province only held two draws, accounting for 584 invitations across the NLPNP and AIP.
How you can be considered for the NLPNP or AIP
Candidates who wish to be considered under either the NLPNP or the AIP must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the province.
For both programs, candidates generally need a valid job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador before submitting an EOI. The exception is for candidates applying through the NLPNP’s entrepreneur-focused streams.
As part of the EOI process, candidates provide details about their occupation, education, language proficiency, and plans to settle in the province.
The OIM reviews submitted EOIs and invites the strongest candidates to proceed. Under the NLPNP, selected candidates are invited to apply for provincial nomination, while under the AIP, they are invited to apply for endorsement.
After receiving an invitation, there is a 60 day-deadline to submit a complete application. For the AIP, the employer is responsible for submitting the application, while NLPNP candidates must submit their own.
EOIs remain valid in the candidate pool for 12 months. Once an EOI expires, candidates must submit a new one if they want to continue being considered.
The OIM has also indicated that it may prioritize candidates based on several factors, including work in healthcare occupations, employment outside major urban centres, strong prospects for long-term settlement, and ties to the province through local graduation.
You can view the full breakdown of the province’s EOI prioritization criteria on its official webpage here.
