The NL OIM did not specify which NLPNP streams candidates were invited under, nor does it identify the occupations or sectors targeted in this draw.

This draw breaks the province’s 2026 pattern of progressively lower invitation totals, with invitations rising slightly from the previous round in this latest selection round.

As of June 10, the NL OIM has issued a total of 1,487 invitations to apply for nomination (NLPNP) or endorsement (AIP). Of this total, most have gone to NLPNP candidates: 83.8%.

How to be considered for the NLPNP or NL AIP

Candidates seeking consideration through the NLPNP or AIP must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Newfoundland and Labrador.

A valid job offer from an employer in the province is required before submitting an EOI under either program, with the exception of those applying through the NLPNP’s entrepreneur-focused streams.

In the EOI, candidates provide information about their occupation, education, language proficiency, and intent to settle in the province.

Once submitted, EOIs are reviewed by the NL OIM. If a candidate’s profile is selected in a draw, the next step is responding to that invitation within 60 days by submitting an application for provincial nomination, or an application for endorsement.

AIP applications are submitted by the employer, while NLPNP applications are submitted by the candidate.

EOIs are valid for 12 months. Candidates who are not invited before their EOI expires must submit a new EOI to continue being considered.

The OIM may prioritize candidates who meet certain criteria, including those working in healthcare occupations, those employed outside major urban centres, those with strong prospects for long-term settlement, and those with ties to the province through graduation from a local post-secondary institution.

A full breakdown of the province’s EOI prioritization criteria is available on the OIM’s official webpage.

Once a candidate has received their certificate of nomination or their endorsement through the AIP, they can apply to the federal government for permanent residence, which will process their application and issue them a confirmation of permanent residence if their application is successful.

Current processing times for permanent residence applications are 13 months for those submitted through the base PNP, six months for those submitted through the enhanced PNP, and 26 months for those submitted through the AIP.
