Three provinces select candidates in latest provincial immigration results

British Columbia, Quebec, and Manitoba have issued invitations to apply for provincial immigration programs this week.

British Columbia and Manitoba both issued invitations/ Expressions of Interest in their latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws. All provinces and territories have PNPs to help provincial governments select economic immigration candidates most likely to integrate easily into the provincial workforce.

The PNP works because immigration is a shared responsibility between the federal and provincial governments. Each year, provinces receive an allocation of nominations they may issue to candidates.

Candidates who are successful in obtaining a provincial nomination are in a stronger position to then apply to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence.

Quebec has a separate agreement with the federal government that gives it autonomy over the selection of all its economic immigrants instead of receiving an allocation and therefore does not require a PNP. Instead of receiving a nomination, candidates in Quebec are invited to apply for a certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ).

Provincial Immigration Results June 1- June 7

British Columbia

This week, British Columbia (B.C.) issued 68 invitations to apply to the BCPNP in four separate, occupation-based draws for candidates in the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams (including Express Entry BC). The draw took place on June 4.

The largest number of invitations, 33, went to candidates in tech occupations. They also required the highest minimum score at 122.

The remaining three draw results were:

• Healthcare occupations: 13 invitations to candidates with a minimum score of 100
• Childcare occupations: 8 invitations to candidates with a minimum score of 93
• Construction occupations: 14 invitations to candidates with a minimum score of 93

Quebec

Quebec posted results this week for a draw that occurred on May 30. Quebec typically posts draws retroactively.

The province invited 1441 people to apply for permanent selection if they:

• had a level 7 oral proficiency (or higher) in French according to the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français. (Québec scale of French proficiency levels for adult immigrants) or its equivalent;
• had a score equal to or greater than 591 points.

Candidates were also considered if they had a valid job offer outside of the territory of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal.

Manitoba

On June 6 Manitoba issued 254 Letters of Advice to apply to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). Among them, 35 were issued to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code

The letters were issued in draws for candidates in three separate categories.

The province sent letters to 134 Skilled Workers in Manitoba with a score of 834. It did the same for 74 candidates in the International Education Stream (no minimum score).

Finally, 45 letters were issued to candidates in the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative. These candidates required a minimum score of 708.
