Ontario and British Columbia nominate PNP candidates
This week both the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) and the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) held provincial selections for their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
Candidates were chosen for their professional experience, employment and language abilities.

Provincial immigration results (August 31st-September 6th)
Ontario
On September 5th the OINP held a draw through the French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream. The province issued 96 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates who had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 290 and 393.
The French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream is for French-speaking skilled workers who want to settle in Ontario. To be eligible, candidates must qualify for the federal Express Entry pool through the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC), meet specific work experience and language proficiency requirements, hold a recognized degree, intend to reside in Ontario, and demonstrate sufficient settlement funds. Candidates cannot apply directly and must first receive a NOI Ontario to proceed with their permanent residence (PR) application to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
British Columbia
The BCPNP held two provincial nominee draws on September 4th, through several different streams.
The first draw was a general selection across the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Entry Level & Semi-Skilled streams. The draw issued 75 invitations to candidates with a minimum score of 128—with the exception of the Entry & Semi-Skilled stream which required a minimum score of 110.
The second draw was a targeted selection for candidates with work experience in key sectors of the British Columbia economy, through the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams. The breakdown of this draw is listed below:
- 31 candidates with professional experience in childcare needed a minimum score of 83 to be invited;
- 33 candidates with professional experience in childcare needed a minimum score of 89 to be invited;
- 19 candidates with professional experience in childcare needed a minimum score of 99 to be invited; and
- At least one candidate with professional experience in childcare needed a minimum score of 80 to be invited.

Closure of the Saskatchewan Hard-to-Fill Skills Pilot
Effective August 30, 2024, the Hard-to-Fill Skills Pilot under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has been permanently closed. No new applications or job approval forms will be accepted after this date. However, any applications already submitted with a valid Candidate-Specific Job Approval Letter will still be processed to completion.
The closure aims to streamline immigration pathways and enhance settlement outcomes. Other program categories under SINP remain open, and alternative pathways are available for prospective applicants.
The SINP will host information sessions on alternative options on September 6 and 11, 2024. Further assistance and details on this change are available via email or the SINP's contact channels.
