This is the second time in the year that invitations have been sent out under the Tourism and Hospitality stream.

The AAIP introduced this stream in 2024 to help address labour shortages in the sector and help businesses throughout the province retain workers.

To be eligible, individuals have to have been working for a tourism and hospitality business in Alberta for at least six months, have a valid full-time job offer from an approved employer, and meet education and language requirements.

Meanwhile, the draw on May 13 is the second general draw under the Alberta Opportunity Stream in 2025. Previous draws have focused on professionals in aviation and construction.

Alberta has received 4,875 slots for its 2025 nomination allocation. Of these, 2,077 nominations have been issued.

On its website, AAIP also showcases information related to each individual pathway, namely the number of nomination spaces remaining, and the number of expressions of interest in the pool.

At the time of writing, these are the numbers for the Alberta Opportunity Stream and the Tourism and Hospitality Stream.

Invited candidates have the opportunity to apply for provincial nomination, and if successful in obtaining a provincial nomination, can make use of the nomination by applying for Canadian permanent residence.
