Alberta issues invitations to candidates in healthcare, agriculture and tech occupations
Between August 4–August 12, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) invited 367 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
Invitations were issued across five selection rounds, and targeted individuals across a variety of in-demand sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and tech.

As of August 12, the AAIP has conducted a total of 69 provincial immigration draws over the course of 2026.
Draw details
The province’s latest AAIP draws, two of which targeted healthcare workers, saw invitations issued through the following streams and pathways:
- Alberta Express Entry Stream;
- Priority sectors – Agriculture.
- Priority sectors – Construction.
- Priority sectors – Healthcare.
- Rural Renewal Stream; and
- Dedicated Health Care pathway – Express Entry.
The highest proportion of invitations was issued to candidates under the Rural Renewal Stream, at 34.6%:

The August 4 draw targeting candidates in the healthcare sector features the highest cutoff for this draw type in 2026 thus far.
As of August 12, the province has invited no fewer than 11,215 invitations to apply (ITAs) to apply for provincial nomination over the course of 2026.
Breakdown of Alberta’s provincial nomination figures
Alberta was recently granted additional nominations by the federal government, bringing its total 2026 allocation to 6,603—up from 6,403.
As of August 12, the province reports having used a total of 4,184 nominations, leaving 2,419 slots available for the remainder of 2026.

Alberta also reports having nominated 50 practice-ready physicians and 12 francophone candidates through supplementary nomination spaces; these do not count toward the province’s 2026 PNP allocation.

As of August 12, Alberta’s WEOI pool contained 36,932 profiles, with approximately 63.1% submitted under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
