On 26 June, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued more invitations to apply for provincial nomination to foreign nationals with a connection to the province.

These individuals were foreign workers and international student graduates who were invited for their ability to contribute to Manitoba’s labour force and effectively settle in the province.

Summary of draw results

The MPNP held two draws on 26 June, under its International Education Stream (IES) and skilled worker streams.

International Education Stream

Under the IES, the MPNP issued 478 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) (the MPNP equivalent of an Invitation to Apply). To be invited, candidates had to:

  • Meet all eligibility criteria of the IES; and
  • Declare a Manitoba supporter who is a close relative.

A Manitoba supporter who is a close relative, is a Canadian permanent resident or citizen, is an established resident of Manitoba, and has lived in Manitoba for at least one year.

To qualify as a close relative, a Manitoba supporter must be related to the applicant (or the applicant’s spouse) through one of the following relationships:

  • Sibling;
  • Mother or father;
  • Niece or nephew;
  • Aunt or uncle;
  • First cousin; or
  • Grandmother or grandfather.

Close relatives may support the applications of more than one skilled worker at a time if they can satisfactorily demonstrate their ability to do so.

To be eligible to apply, candidates chosen in this draw must provide documents verifying their close relative relationship to their Manitoba Supporter and their Manitoba Supporter’s length of residence in the province.

If they are unable to show that they meet these criteria, the MPNP advises that they may wish to consider declining their LAA.

Manitoba supporters must also submit a settlement plan with a candidate’s application and provide documentation showing the duration of their residence in Manitoba.

This specific selection does not represent a change in the overall International Education Stream criteria.

Skilled worker streams

The MPNP invited 14 candidates of the Skilled Worker Stream—under either the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream or the Skilled Worker Overseas stream—who declared in their profiles that they were invited by Manitoba under a strategic recruitment initiative.

In addition, candidates needed a minimum score of 712 to be invited in this draw.

These 14 LAAs were issued to candidates through the following strategic recruitment initiatives:
