Candidates were invited under both the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways, in an occupation-specific draw and employer-driven selection, respectively.

MPNP draw results

On October 9, 2025, Manitoba held Draw #255 (the first draw of the month), inviting a total of 862 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba

A total of 583 LAAs were issued in this draw to candidates declaring current employment:

  • in healthcare-related occupations within Manitoba; or
  • corresponding to Home support workers and caregivers, and related occupations.

Profiles had to be employed in occupations in Manitoba that were either contained within the broad National Occupation Classification (NOC) group for health occupations, or occupations that aligned with the specific NOC description for Home support worker and caregivers, and related occupations :

Category Details
NOC code and title 44101 – Home support workers, caregivers, and related occupations
NOC Broad Occupational Category 3 – Health occupations

Skilled Worker Stream

An additional 279 LAAs were issued to candidates through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba or Skilled Worker Overseas pathways, who had submitted profiles that declared being directly invited by the MPNP through a strategic recruitment initiative*.

LAAs were distributed among candidates by initiative:

Strategic Recruitment Initiative LAAs Issued
Employer Services 45
Francophone Community 43
Regional Communities
Ethnocultural Communities
Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective PNP Candidates (TPP) 180

This is the second consecutive round of invitations in which the MPNP has prioritized TPP candidates through its skilled worker pathways.

The temporary public policy facilitating work permits for prospective nominees is a measure to issue open work permits (OWPs) to skilled workers in select provinces that sign on to the policy. This measure is jointly supported by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Government of Manitoba.

Of the total 862 LAAs issued, 203 were given to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code.

Why some candidates may not have received an invitation

If a profile meets the specific selection criteria for a draw, but did not receive an LAA, possible reasons include:

  • Candidates having declared an approved third-party language test, but not providing a valid test number in their Expression of Interest, or having expired results; or
  • Candidates having declared receipt of an invitation from the MPNP under a strategic recruitment initiative but not providing a valid invitation number.

Candidates working in regulated occupations were also required to hold the relevant, valid Manitoba license. Regulated professionals who were invited needed to provide proof of completing all necessary licensing steps to maintain their invitation. Failure to do so can lead to a rejection of an application.

Understanding this week’s MPNP selection process

Occupation-specific draws allow Manitoba to target candidates currently employed within in-demand sectors in the province, in an effort to address labour shortages and support workforce stability. The MPNP provides a full list of in-demand occupations on its website.

Strategic recruitment initiatives are employer-led processes that enable the MPNP to collaborate with employers, communities, and cultural organizations in Manitoba to identify overseas candidates with strong settlement potential in Manitoba.

These candidates typically have specific professional experience which is needed but not currently available among workers in the province—however candidates can also be invited for their French language proficiency.
