Alberta reaches its full 2025 nomination allocation for its PNP following two final draws
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has officially met its full 2025 nomination allocation after issuing its final Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination.
Having reached its declared 6,741 cap, it’s likely that no more provincial nomination invitations will be issued hereafter.
Its final round of invitations, published retroactively, focused on healthcare professionals.

After conducting these two final draws, Alberta updated its official “Processing Information” webpage to note its full allocation was reached.
A breakdown of the AAIP’s 2025 nomination distribution in 2025
This year, the AAIP started with 4,875 nominations, but following an increase of 1,728 more spots, ended the year with a total of 6,603 nomination slots.
*Despite being allotted 6,603 nominations, it issued 6,750 nominations—noting the issuance of “some nominations under a small Express Entry administrative overage provided by the federal government.
Let’s take a look at how the province distributed its nominations in 2025:

Note that while the AAIP does declare its 2025 nomination allocation at 6,741 spots, the total number of nominations issued based on the breakdown totals 6,750 nominations.
These nominations were issued over a total of 77 draws, the highest number of draws conducted by any Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in 2025.
In 2025, Alberta held the following number of draws per draw type:
- 12 draws through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
- 2 draws through the Rural Renewal stream.
- 11 draws through the Dedicated Health Care Pathway (Express Entry-aligned)
- 11 draws through the Dedicated Health Care Pathway (non-Express Entry)
- 3 draws through the Tourism and Hospitality Stream.
- 38 Through the Alberta Express Entry Stream.
While Alberta Express Entry Stream draws occurred most frequently, the bulk of invitations were extended through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
Alberta’s 2025 priority sectors for its Express Entry Stream included construction, agriculture, and aviation, along with these three pathways within the stream:
- Dedicated Healthcare Pathway;
- Accelerated Tech Pathway; and
- Law Enforcement Pathway.
At the time of this writing, the province still has 1,479 applications still awaiting processing, with the majority of them under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
Further, there are 45,622 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) currently in the selection pool—again, most of these for consideration under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
The AAIP has not yet announced its 2026 nomination allocation, nor which sectors or occupations will be prioritized.
Changes to the AAIP over 2025
The AAIP announced several changes to its provincial immigration program throughout 2025. Here’s what took place:
- February 27: From this date onward, applicants were required to respond to AAIP information requests through the “Update Employment Information” tab in the AAIP portal for most streams, rather than via email.
- March 17: Alberta retracted its decision to participate in the federal government’s temporary public policy to facilitate open work permits to prospective PNP candidates.
- March 17: The AAIP announced that candidates were no longer going to be invited through the Family Connection and Occupation in Demand pathway of the Express Entry Stream, but that applicants could still claim points for having a qualifying family connection.
- April 1: The AAIP raised its application fees for various streams, including its worker streams and Farm Stream for applications submitted on or after that date—among other fee increases.
- Worker streams: from $840 to 1,500.
- Farm Stream: from $500 to $3,500.
- Nomination certificate reissuance fee: from $100 to $150.
- April 1: The AAIP began accepting the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Core to meet language requirements for applications to all streams received on or after this date.
- November 18: Eligibility changes to the Rural Renewal stream were announced requiring In-Canada candidates to have valid work permits, and removing eligibility for low-skilled (TEER 4 or 5) workers residing outside Alberta—among others.
