The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held five provincial immigration draws between March 17 and March 27, 2026, issuing more than 290 invitations to apply to candidates across multiple streams and pathways.

Invitations were issued through the following streams and pathways:

  • Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors pathway (Construction);
  • Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors pathway (Manufacturing);
  • Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway;
  • Dedicated Health Care Pathway – non-Express Entry; and
  • Rural Renewal Stream.

As of the time of this writing, the AAIP has conducted a total of 23 draws in 2026, with the bulk of invitations issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

This latest series of draws follows six draws held between February 26 and March 16, which saw over 1,400 invitations issued.

Draw details (March 17 to 27)

The AAIP issued at least 298 invitations in these draws, prioritizing health care, construction, manufacturing, rural immigration, and law enforcement candidates.

The AAIP publishes data on how its total nomination allocation (6,403 spaces) for 2026 is distributed across its streams and pathways, as well as the number of nominations already issued and remaining.

The table below includes figures as of April 1, 2026 — the date of the AAIP's most recent data update.

Expressions of Interest and applications are awaiting processing

Alberta publishes stream-by-stream data on the number of candidates in its selection pools, as well as applications in its inventory awaiting processing — the only province to do so.

There were 44,094 worker Expressions of Interest (EOIs) in the candidate selection pool as of April 1, which excludes the AAIP's entrepreneur streams. Of these EOIs, 63.5% are in the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Stream/pathway EOIs in the pool Applications awaiting processing

Rural Renewal Stream 2,622 207
Tourism and Hospitality Stream 4,404 20

Alberta announced in January that it will prioritize occupations in sectors such as health care, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation, and agriculture in 2026. Rural immigration is also one of Alberta's focus areas this year, with individuals holding qualifying job offers in communities designated under the Rural Renewal Stream being targeted to fill this demand.

Provincial nomination figures

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) granted Alberta a total of 6,403 nomination spaces for 2026.

As of April 1, the province has issued 1,475 nominations — leaving 4,928 nomination spaces remaining.

There are 1,418 applications awaiting processing in the AAIP's inventory, across all streams and pathways.
