On April 9, 2026, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held its latest immigration draw, inviting candidates through both pathways of its Skilled Worker Stream.

Candidates were invited if they indicated being directly invited by the MPNP as part of a strategic recruitment initiative.

Draw results

Manitoba issued a total of 32 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) in this latest draw, which was the first the province has held this month.

The MPNP invited candidates through both the province's Skilled Worker Stream pathways:

The highest number of LAAs were issued to candidates who declared being invited under the "Employer Services" recruitment initiative — accounting for about 31% of LAAs.

Here's how the LAAs were distributed, by strategic recruitment initiative:

Strategic recruitment initiative Number of LAAs issued
Employer Services 10
Francophone Community
Ethnocultural Communities
Regional Communities
Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates (TPP)

Of the 32 LAAs issued in this draw, eight were issued to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code.

To compare, the previous draw on March 12 (EOI Draw #267) saw 46 candidates invited through its Skilled Worker Stream, meaning Manitoba invited 30% fewer candidates in this round. With this draw, the total number of LAAs issued in 2026 so far has reached 281.

I met the selection criteria — why didn't I receive an LAA?

If you believe your EOI met the selection requirements, but you didn't receive an LAA, the MPNP explains it may be because:

  • You indicated that you took an approved third-party English/French test, but did not provide a valid test number in your EOI, or the test results had expired; or
  • You stated that you received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to the MPNP under a strategic recruitment initiative, but the invitation number entered was not valid.

If one of these scenarios applies to you, you may wish to update your EOI with the correct information to be considered in the next draw. For each question in the EOI, help text is available with details on what you should enter.

What are strategic recruitment initiatives?

The MPNP periodically organizes overseas recruitment missions, often with Manitoba employers seeking skilled workers. During these missions, program officers and employers meet candidates, share job opportunities, and explain MPNP immigration pathways.

Candidates must look for MPNP announcements and follow the instructions provided, such as registering for an event or submitting a résumé and eligibility information.

What are exploratory visits?

An exploratory visit is a short, prearranged trip to Manitoba that lets potential applicants see the province firsthand. The visit serves two purposes: it helps foreign nationals decide whether they can genuinely live, work, and settle in Manitoba with their family, and it lets Manitoba immigration officials conduct a preliminary interview and assessment.

To arrange a visit, skilled workers submit a request to the MPNP. If accepted, the MPNP issues an invitation with follow-up steps. These visits are conducted at the MPNP's discretion and must be approved and organized through the program.

During the visit, candidates can research communities and job markets, meet employers, speak with regulatory bodies if they work in a regulated occupation, and explore housing, schools, and lifestyle options. The MPNP also interviews the candidate and may then issue a formal invitation.

It is this invitation — not the visit alone — that creates the formal connection to Manitoba required for an MPNP application.

Eligibility criteria for an MPNP exploratory visit can be found on the provincial government’s webpage.
