On May 7, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted its largest draw of the year, through which over 900 candidates received invitations to apply (ITAs).

This selection round focused on teachers and assistants, as well as those directly invited by the MPNP under a strategic recruitment initiative.

This latest draw marks the province’s ninth selection round of 2026.

Draw details

Manitoba issued a total of 906 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) in its first May draw.

Provincial nominee candidates were invited through both pathways of Manitoba’s Skilled Worker Stream:

The province divided this selection round based on two selection components: 1) worker occupation (in-province) and 2) direct invitation under a recruitment initiative (in-province and overseas).

The majority of invitations (52.4%) were issued to candidates who declared being invited through a strategic recruitment initiative:

Of the 906 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) that Manitoba issued in this draw, a total of 326 (30%) went to candidates who declared having a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code.

Strategic recruitment selection

The MPNP issued 475 LAAs to in-province and overseas candidates who declared being invited by Manitoba under a strategic recruitment initiative.

Five recruitment initiatives were considered, with the bulk of invitations (90.3%) going to those possessing special work permits issued by Manitoba through a now-expired temporary public policy.

This aligns with the province’s May 1 announcement, which highlighted plans to target those who received a Manitoba work permit Support Letter under the temporary public policy for prospective Provincial Nominee Program candidates.

Here’s how LAAs were distributed, by strategic recruitment:

For comparison purposes, Manitoba’s previous draw featuring a strategic recruitment component saw a total of 116 LAAs issued overall—with just 12 going to those under the TPP initiative.

Occupation-specific selection

Under this selection category, Manitoba invited 431 candidates who are currently residing and working in Manitoba in one of four National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes:

  • 42202 – Early childhood educators and assistants;
  • 43100 – Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants;
  • 41221 – Elementary school and kindergarten teachers; and
  • 41220 – Secondary school teachers.

Invitations were only sent to those who, in their Expression of Interest (EOI)profile, declared meeting all Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway criteria, and confirmed ongoing employment in education occupations (broad occupational category 4 under the NOC system.

The province specified that candidates who submitted profiles under the International Education Stream were not considered in this draw.
