Prince Edward Island holds largest provincial immigration draw this year
On June 18, Prince Edward Island held its largest draw of 2026, inviting 182 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
Invitations were extended to in-province candidates working in high-demand occupations and sectors.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued invitations to apply (ITA) through its Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry streams.
International student graduates from the following PEI post-secondary institutions were prioritized:
- University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI);
- Holland College; and
- Collège de l’Île.

All but one of these draws (March 20) aligned with the province’s ITA schedule.
These draws all had the same selection criteria—individuals working in PEI in occupations and priority sectors with high economic impact, and the prioritization of international student graduates from the same three post-secondary institutions.
*The Labour Impact category consists of three streams: Skilled Worker Stream, Critical Worker Stream, and International Graduate Stream.
As of June 18, the province has issued a total of 658 ITAs for provincial nomination.
About the PEI PNP’s upcoming draws
The province intends to hold six more draws this year, at a rate of one per month, according to its anticipated ITA schedule:
- July 16;
- August 20;
- September 17;
- October 15;
- November 19; and
- December 17.
According to the province, dates published in its draw schedule are tentative and meant for “general informational purposes only.”
PEI may hold draws earlier, later, or in addition to the listed schedule.
That said, the province has generally adhered to its announced dates in the past, having done so for eight of its 11 draws in 2025, and five out of six draws this year.
How to be considered for Prince Edward Island’s next draw
Foreign nationals who wish to be considered for an ITA must first create an account on PEI's official website and submit an Expression of Interest.
PEI’s Office of Immigration will assess each candidate based on how well they are positioned to address the province’s economic and labour market needs. Profiles are ranked using a points-based system that considers factors such as:
- Language: English or French language ability;
- Education: The applicant’s educational background, field of study, and location of studies;
- Skills and work experience: Skills and experience linked to priority industries or high-demand occupations;
- Strategic priorities: The degree to which the profile supports PEI’s current labour market goals; and
- Employment prospects: Factors such as a valid PEI job offer and/or prior work experience in Canada.
Candidates who score well under the EOI system and show strong potential to integrate into the province are generally better positioned to receive an invitation.
Those who are invited will have 30 calendar days to submit a complete application for provincial nomination—a reduction from the prior 60-day window.
If the applicant is successful, they are issued a nomination by PEI and become a provincial nominee.
Provincial nominees can then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence.
