New Brunswick selects 63 AIP candidates for provincial immigration
New Brunswick has selected 63 workers to advance on its Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) immigration track.
On Sept. 25 and Oct. 2, the province moved forward with processing applications for endorsement certificates from workers in construction, education, and sales, among other occupations.

Workers whose applications are approved will receive an endorsement certificate, which they can use to apply to the federal government for permanent residence.
Foreign nationals who obtain an endorsement certificate under the AIP may also apply for a federal employer-specific work permit, valid for two years.
Workers who remain in Canada and who apply for an AIP work permit prior to the expiry of their existing permit can benefit from maintained status, which authorizes them to work under the conditions of their existing permit until a decision has been made on their AIP work permit.
This draw saw the following seven occupational categories selected:
- Construction;
- Education, social and community services;
- Manufacturing;
- Other trades;
- Professional and IT;
- Sales and services; and
- Transportation.
New Brunswick listed the cut-off date and time for these draws as Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. AST.
To qualify for provincial immigration through the AIP, a worker requires a job offer from an employer who has been designated by the province.
As of these selections, the province has conducted a total of 10 AIP-specific selection rounds over the course of 2026.
Here’s how this draw compares to previous 2026 selection rounds targeting AIP applicants:
| Date of draw(s) | Number of applications selected for processing |
|---|---|
| Sept. 25 + Oct. 2 | 63 |
| Sept. 10 | 60 |
| Aug. 10 + Aug. 20 | 68 |
| July 22 | 114 |
| June 3 | 97 |
| May 1 | 50 |
| April 1 | 118 |
| Mar. 3–6 | 125 |
New Brunswick’s AIP selection rounds operate differently from those held under its provincial nominee program. Rather than issuing invitations to submit an application, they determine which existing applications will advance to processing.
As of Oct. 2, 695 AIP applicants had been selected by the province to have their endorsement applications processed.
Recent program changes
New Brunswick has recently eased occupational restrictions under its AIP, expanding the range of occupations eligible for provincial endorsement.
Effective Oct. 14, the province began accepting endorsement applications for all otherwise eligible occupations, except the following four:
- Fish and seafood plant workers (94142);
- Food service supervisors (62020);
- Restaurant and food service managers (60030); and
- Shippers and receivers (14400).
New Brunswick also reaffirmed endorsement applications for positions offered to foreign nationals residing outside Canada remain limited to government-led recruitment initiatives in three sectors: health care, education, and construction.
The easing of occupational restrictions follows a Sept. 14 announcement in which New Brunswick confirmed that its pause on accepting new employer designation applications under the AIP would remain in effect for the rest of 2026.
The province said the continued pause would allow Immigration New Brunswick to reassess existing designated employers and review its priorities to ensure they align with program objectives and provincial economic needs.
