On July 10, Newfoundland and Labrador issued a total of 57 invitations to provincial immigration candidates through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
This draw, the eighth this year, represents the province’s smallest invitation round of 2026.

Draw details
| Program | Invitations issued |
|---|---|
| NLPNP | 17 |
| AIP | 40 |
This marked the first draw since September 2025 in which AIP candidates received more invitations than NLPNP candidates, at 70.2% of the total.
No stream-specific or sector-specific breakdown was provided for the NLPNP invitations.
According to the province’s EOI criteria, candidates may be prioritized based on employment in healthcare, sales and service, rural areas, and underrepresented occupations, among other factors.
Save for its June 10 selection round, invitation numbers have fallen across each successive Newfoundland and Labrador draw in 2026—with the latest setting a new low for the year:
| Date of draw | Invitations issued | Invitations issued by program |
|---|---|---|
| March 6, 2026 | 445 | NLPNP – 362 AIP – 83 |
| March 30, 2026 | 245 | NLPNP – 209 AIP – 36 |
| April 13, 2026 | 210 | NLPNP – 177 AIP – 33 |
| May 1, 2026 | 190 | NLPNP – 157 AIP – 33 |
| May 11, 2026 | 186 | NLPNP – 168 AIP – 18 |
| May 28, 2026 | 103 | NLPNP – 84 AIP – 19 |
| June 10, 2026 | 108 | NLPNP – 89 AIP – 19 |
As of July 10, Newfoundland and Labrador has invited a total of 1,544 provincial immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination (NLPNP) or endorsement (AIP) in 2026.
Most of the invitations issued by the province went to NLPNP candidates (81.8%).
How to be considered for the NLPNP or N&L AIP
The first step toward consideration under the NLPNP or AIP is to submit an online Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism’s (OIM’s) Immigration Accelerator Portal.
Both programs generally require that a candidate have a valid job offer from a provincial employer before submitting their profile, with the NLPNP’s entrepreneur streams being the exception.
Through the EOI, candidates provide information about their work, education, language proficiency, and intent to settle in the province, and these profiles are then entered into the EOI pool.
The N&L OIM may give priority to candidates based on factors such as employment in healthcare, work outside major urban centres, strong long-term settlement prospects, and ties to the province through local education.
A full breakdown regarding candidate prioritization is available on its Expression of Interest Model (EOI) Prioritization Criteria webpage.
Periodically, N&L selects top-raking candidates in provincial immigration draws. Once selected, there is a 60-day deadline to submit a complete application to N&L.
NLPNP applications are submitted by the candidate, while AIP applications must be submitted by the employer.
If a candidate is successful in their application to the province, N&L will issue them a provincial nomination certificate (for the NLPNP) or endorsement certificate (for the AIP).
After receiving a provincial nomination certificate or an AIP endorsement, the provincial nominee or AIP endorsee can submit an application for permanent residence (PR) to the federal government. If approved, the applicant will be issued a Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
Current PR application processing times are as follows:
| Application type | Processing time (July 7) |
|---|---|
| Base PNP | 12 months |
| Enhanced PNP | 7 months |
| AIP | 26 months |
A candidate who does not receive an invitation from N&L after having an active EOI for 12 months must re-submit their profile (or have their employer re-submit, for the AIP) to continue to be considered for provincial immigration.
