Newfoundland and Labrador invites 97 candidates to apply for provincial nomination
On September 4, Newfoundland and Labrador issued 97 invitations to apply for provincial nomination through its provincial nominee program.
These invitations allow candidates to take the next step toward obtaining Canadian permanent residence (PR) as provincial nominees.

As of June 9, 2026, many provincial nominees who apply for PR from within Canada can get a Bridging Open Work Permit before receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt, allowing them to maintain their status while awaiting a decision on their PR application.
This latest draw represents the province’s 13th overall selection round of 2026.
No invitations were issued to Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) candidates in the September 4 selection round—the second such instance since the province moved to an Expression of Interest (EOI) model in February 2025.

The province’s Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) does not publish which specific NLPNP streams candidates are invited under, or which sectors they work in.
As of September 4, 2026, the province has issued a total of 2,556 invitations through both its provincial programs; of these, 2,162 have gone to NLPNP candidates and the remaining 394 to AIP candidates.
How to get permanent residence through the NLPNP
To pursue permanent residence through the NLPNP, foreign nationals must submit an EOI through the province’s Immigration Accelerator Portal.
The EOI requests individuals provide details about their education, work experience, language ability, and plans to settle in the province.
A job offer is required for all worker streams.
The Newfoundland and Labrador OIM reviews EOIs and conducts periodic selections according to its current immigration priorities.
Candidates may be prioritized based on factors such as employment in healthcare, employment outside major urban centres, French-language ability, and graduation from a Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary institution.
A complete list of the factors the province may consider is available on the OIM’s official webpage.
Those who are drawn from the pool have 60 draws to submit a complete application for provincial nomination.
Successful applicants receive a provincial nomination certificate and may apply to the federal government for permanent residence.
If the federal government approves the application, the applicant will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR).
The latest PR processing times are as follows:
| Application type | Processing time (September 4) |
|---|---|
| Base PNP | 13 months |
| Enhanced PNP | 7 months |
EOIs are valid for 12 months. If no invitation is issued before an EOI expires, the candidate must submit a new profile to continue being considered in future selection rounds.
