Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Alberta invite candidates for provincial immigration
Five of Canada’s provinces have invited candidates to apply through provincial immigration programs.
Most of Canada’s provinces invite candidates through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Only Quebec and Nunavut do not have PNPs. Quebec has a separate agreement with the federal government that can exist because immigration is a shared responsibility between the provincial and federal governments. Unlike other provinces, Quebec’s agreement gives the province total autonomy over the selection of economic class immigrants.
Receiving a provincial nomination strengthens an application for permanent residency for all applicants. A nomination also adds an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points to an Express Entry candidate’s application.

Provincial Immigration Results September 2-8
Ontario
On September 7, Ontario invited 300 candidates through the Express Entry French Speaking Skilled Worker stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). Invited candidates had a CRS score that ranged between 308-434.
It was a general draw, meaning candidates could be invited from any occupation as long as they had the required a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 6 in English and (CLB) level 7 or higher in French. To get a CLB level, candidates are evaluated on reading, writing, speaking, and listening
Quebec
Quebec has released the results of a draw that occurred on August 24.
The province invited 1000 candidates from a wide range of targeted occupations to apply for permanent selection. They required a minimum score of 584.
Eligible candidates also required a level 7 oral proficiency (or higher) in French according to the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français des personnes immigrantes adultes or its equivalent.
Candidates were also considered if they had a job offer outside of Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal
British Columbia
British Columbia invited 222 candidates through three draws of the BC PNP on September 6,
Most candidates, 160, were invited in a general draw for Skilled Workers, International Graduates, and Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled candidates. They required a Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score ranging between 89 and 110, depending on the stream.
The remaining two draws invited 43 early childhood educators and assistants and 19 healthcare workers. They required a minimum SIRS score of 60.
New Brunswick
New Brunswick invited 259 candidates through the New Brunswick Express Entry program in July. The province released these results only this week.
The invitations were divided among three streams of the NB PNP. There were 58 candidates invited through the NB Employment Connection, 130 through the NB Student Connection and 71 through the NB Occupations in Demand Connection.
Those who received an ITA have 45 days to submit a complete application. So far this year, New Brunswick has invited 889 Express Entry candidates.
Alberta
On August 29, Alberta invited 18 Express Entry candidates through the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Alberta job offer. They required a CRS score of 300 or higher.
August was a busy month for the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The province held eight separate draws and invited 883 Express Entry candidates.
