On August 21, Prince Edward Island (PEI) extended invitations to foreign nationals to apply for provincial nomination.

The province focused on candidates already living and working in PEI in high-demand occupations and sectors, prioritizing international student graduates from select universities and colleges.

Thus far in 2025, PEI has issued a total of 792 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through its PNP.

Draw results

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) sent out a total of 132 ITAs to in-province individuals through two pathways:

Draw categoryNumber of invitations issued
Labour Impact/Express Entry132

Individuals employed in sectors identified as critical to the province’s economic growth and workforce needs were given precedence. Earlier this year, PEI identified healthcare, trades, and manufacturing as being in-demand.

International student graduates from the post-secondary institutions listed below were given further priority in the selection process:

  • University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI).
  • Holland College.
  • Collège de l’Île.

This is the third draw of the year with these specific selection attributes.

Out of the 792 invitations issued this year, 791 have been extended under the Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry streams, while a single invitation has been issued through the Work Permit Stream.

Immigrating to PEI

The PEI PNP has three immigration categories for those who wish to settle in the province:

  • Labour Impact.
    • Skilled Worker Stream.
    • Critical Worker Stream.
    • International Graduate Stream.
  • PEI Express Entry.
  • Business Impact.
    • Work Permit Stream.

The eligibility criteria for each category and its respective stream(s) differ. In addition to meeting category/stream criteria, candidates must also be admissible to Canada, and meet federal Express Entry requirements (if applicable).

How to be considered

Consideration for any of the categories above requires first creating an account on PEI’s official website and submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI).

PEI’s Office of Immigration regularly reviews the profiles in the EOI pool to see whether they meet the province’s current economic and labour market needs.

Profiles in PEI’s EOI pool remain valid for up to six months, and candidates can only have one active profile in the pool at any given time.

The province will invite desired candidates to submit an application for provincial nomination.

Post application review, successful candidates will receive a nomination, at which point they can apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency.

Foreign nationals wishing to be considered under PEI’s Express Entry Stream must submit an EOI directly to PEI in addition to having an Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
