Newfoundland and Labrador to connect foreign workers with employers in upcoming virtual immigration fair
On February 11, between 6–10 p.m. GMT, the Newfoundland and Labrador government will run a virtual immigration and job fair for all interested audiences.
The event will cater to foreign skilled workers interested in immigrating to Canada, who will have a chance to connect with hiring employers across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, in support of their bid to move to the country.

As part of event registration, foreign workers must upload their résumés online for employer consideration.
In addition, the event will feature information sessions and question and answer periods with experts, about immigration programs to, and life in, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Will registering for this event lead to a Canadian visa or work permit?
Simply signing up and taking part in the virtual event will not automatically provide a visa or work permit.
However, the event can help you explore Newfoundland and Labrador’s immigration options, look for jobs, and potentially be hired by an employer based in the province.
Securing a full-time position in Newfoundland and Labrador is an important step in gaining eligibility to apply for a work permit, or permanent residency.
Note that to immigrate to Canada through Newfoundland and Labrador’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) under a worker or student stream, you will need a job offer—one year minimum in length—from an in-province employer.
Are there specific occupations and sectors that the province is looking to hire foreign workers for?
Though workers in all occupations and industries may apply, Newfoundland and Labrador is specifically seeking skilled professionals to help fill labour needs in areas such as:
- Social work;
- Kindergarten to Grade 12 teaching (English and/or French);
- Aviation;
- Health care;
- Early childhood education;
- Construction; and
- Hospitality, retail, and food services.
This is not an exhaustive list; the province is also in search of skilled professionals to meet the need in “many other areas.”
What if I cannot find a job posting that matches my work experience or skills?
If foreign workers cannot find a relevant job posting during the event, they may still be able to secure employment later.
Employers who participate in the event will have access to your uploaded résumé throughout the year—meaning that an employer searching for someone with your skills may visit the platform at a later date and contact you.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s official site recommends uploading your résumé as soon as you’re ready and keeping it updated regularly.
