On March 30, 2026, Newfoundland held its second provincial immigration draw of the year, inviting over 200 candidates.
Invitations were extended through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

The end-of-month draw saw a total of 245 invitations issued through its two provincial immigration programs, with the majority going to NLPNP candidates (roughly 85%).

Newfoundland’s Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) does not clarify which streams of the NLPNP invitations are issued through when publishing draw details.
In comparison to its first draw of the year (March 6), this selection round saw fewer invitations issued across both programs.
To date, the province has issued a total of 690 invitations for provincial immigration across the NLPNP and AIP. Of this total, 571 went to NLPNP candidates, while 119 went to AIP candidates.
Last year, Newfoundland and Labrador held its first provincial immigration draw on April 3 (NLPNP: 206, AIP: 50)—indicating candidate selection began earlier this year, and in higher numbers.
To illustrate: the first draw of 2026 saw 445 invitations issued—362 through the NLPNP and 83 through the AIP.
Note: As of the time of this writing, the Newfoundland and Labrador OIM has yet to publish its nomination allocation for 2026. Based on allocation trends that CIC News was able to identify, we mapped out the number of nominations Newfoundland and Labrador may receive in 2026 based on the number it received at the start 0f 2025.
Last year, the province received a total of 2,525 nominations between its two immigration programs following a mid-year nomination increase granted by the federal government. Of this total, 2,050 went to the NLPNP, and 475 went to the AIP.
This year, most provinces and territories received a nomination allocation that was at least equal to the amount they ended 2025 with (most jurisdictions received increases throughout the year, including Newfoundland and Labrador—1,000 slots), if not higher.
As such, it may be reasonable to assume that the province’s 2026 nomination allocation will sit at a minimum of 2,525 spaces based on existing patterns.
How to be considered for an invitation
Both the NLPNP and the province’s AIP function on an Expression of Interest (EOI) model since February 2025.
A valid job or job offer is required to immigrate through both programs (except in the case of the province’s NLPNP entrepreneur streams).
Candidates must complete and submit a short EOI form, which captures information about their:
- Occupation;
- Education;
- Language skills; and
- Intention to reside in the province.
The Newfoundland and Labrador OIM assesses these submissions and then issues invitations to the most desirable candidates.
Once an invitation is issued, the candidate or the employer can submit a full application to the province.
An application must be submitted within 60 days of receiving an invitation to apply; once submitted, the application will enter the full assessment process.
EOIs remain in the pool for 12 months, after which they will expire, and a new one must be submitted.
