AAIP selects 743 provincial immigration candidates through Alberta Opportunity Stream
Between August 14–19, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted two draws, through which it invited a total of 767 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
Invitations were issued through two streams: the Alberta Opportunity Stream, through which 24 candidates were invited and the Dedicated Health Care Pathway (non-Express Entry), accounting for 24 invitations.

The two draws differed in both cutoff score and invitation volume, with the Alberta Opportunity Stream accounting for 96.9% of all invitations issued:

The August 19 draw targeting candidates in the healthcare sector features the lowest invitation count for this draw type in 2026 to date.
As of August 25, the AAIP has issued no fewer than 11,982 invitations to apply for provincial nomination this year.
The province’s latest healthcare-targeted draw, the eighth of its kind this year, falls in line with Alberta’s stated 2026 priorities, which also encompass sectors such as construction, technology, and manufacturing.
Breakdown of the AAIP’s 2026 provincial nomination figures
Following a recent increase to the AAIP's allocation, the province now has a total of 6,603 nomination spaces for the year—up from 6,403.
Alberta notes on its AAIP – Processing Information webpage that it has issued 4,560 nominations as of August 25, leaving 2,043 nomination slots remaining.

Separate from its 2026 PNP allocation, Alberta has also used supplementary nomination spaces to nominate 50 practice-ready physicians and 12 francophone candidates.
Worker expressions of interest and applications awaiting processing
Alberta also reports the composition of its WEOI pool by stream, alongside the number of nomination applications awaiting finalization.
As of August 25, Alberta’s WEOI pool contained 36,255 profiles. The Alberta Opportunity Stream accounted for approximately 62.5% of the total.
The province had 1,335 nomination applications awaiting a final decision as of the same date.
