Newfoundland and Labrador issues provincial immigration invitations to 445 candidates

On July 28, Newfoundland and Labrador issued 445 invitations to provincial immigration candidates.

Invitations were issued through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

Newfoundland and Labrador’s Office of Multiculturalism did not specify which specific NLPNP streams candidates were invited under, or which sectors they worked in.

According to the province’s published Expression of Interest (EOI) prioritization criteria, candidates may be selected based on a variety of factors, such as employment in health-related or sales and service occupations, in-province education, and French-language proficiency.

The province’s latest draw was its largest by invitation count since March 6 of this—a sharp contrast with the preceding round, which was its smallest of the year.

As of July 28, the province has issued a total of 1,989 invitations to apply for provincial nomination (NLPNP) or endorsement (AIP) in 2026.

Invitations to NLPNP candidates accounted for 83.6% of provincial immigration selections.

How to be considered for the NLPNP or N&L AIP

Submitting an EOI through the province’s Immigration Accelerator Portal is the first step toward selection under either the NLPNP or AIP.

With the exception of the NLPNP’s entrepreneur streams, candidates generally require a valid job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer before entering the EOI pool.

The EOI collects information about the candidate’s education, work experience, language ability, and intention to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador. Once submitted, the profile enters the provincial EOI pool.

The province may prioritize candidates based on factors such as employment in healthcare, work outside major urban centres, local study, and a strong likelihood of long-term retention.

The province periodically holds draws and invites selected candidates to submit an applications.

For the NLPNP, the candidate submits the application. Under the AIP, trhis responsibility rests with the employer.

A successful NLPNP applicant receives a provincial nomination certificate, whereas a successful AIP applicant receives an endorsement certificate—after which they can apply to the federal government for permanent residence.

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the latest permanent residence application processing times are as follows:

An EOI remains active for 12 months. Candidates who do not receive an invitation during that period must submit a new profile to remain under consideration. For AIP candidates, the employer must complete the resubmission.
