Three Canadian provinces have nominated candidates to apply for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) this week.

Being nominated by a province strengthens a permanent residence application. This is because a province will nominate only the economic immigration candidates who they feel are well-suited to economically establish within the province through filling gaps in the provincial labour force.

These candidates are also considered likely to remain in the nominating province and are often already living there or they have a job offer or close family members in the province.

Express Entry candidates who are nominated also have the advantage of getting an additional 600 points on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). This means they are nearly guaranteed to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in an upcoming Express Entry round of invitations to apply for permanent residency.

Provincial Immigration Results August 19-25

British Columbia

This week British Columbia invited over 225 candidates in four separate draws of the BC PNP.

The largest draw was general, meaning no occupation was specified for 169 candidates in the Skilled Worker, International Graduate and Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled streams. The minimum Skilled Immigration Registrations System (SIRS) score ranged from 88 for Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled candidates, to 106 for Skilled Workers and 109 for International Graduates.

The remaining three draws considered only Skilled Workers and International Graduates with minimum SIRS scores of 60.

  • 33 Early childhood educators and assistants;
  • 23 healthcare professionals; and
  • Less than five other priority occupations

Alberta

Alberta has released results for the three most recent draws of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). All three draws nominated candidates who are already in the Express Entry application pool.

On August 15, the province invited 14 candidates through the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Alberta job offer stream. They required a minimum CRS score of 326

The province also nominated 300 Express Entry candidates on August 16 through the Priority sector - Tourism and hospitality occupation with Alberta job offer stream with a CRS score of 408 and above.

Finally, on August 22 the province invited 89 candidates through the Priority sector - Construction occupation with Alberta job offer stream with a minimum CRS score of 303.

Manitoba

On August 24 Manitoba sent 623 letters of advice to candidates in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). This included 178 Express Entry candidates.

Among them, the province invited 256 Skilled Workers in Manitoba with a minimum score of 612. These candidates also required an occupation that falls under one of three specific National Occupational Classification major group codes:

  • 73 - General trades
  • 74 - Mail and message distribution, other transport equipment operators and related maintenance workers
  • 75 - Helpers and labourers and other transport drivers, operators and labourers

The province also invited 250 Skilled Workers with a minimum score of 646 in a non-occupation specific draw.

There were also 63 candidates invited through the International Education stream and 54 invited through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream with a minimum score of 724.
