Once you’ve taken your CELPIP Test and achieved your score goals, it is essential to ensure that you keep your CELPIP score up to date for the following practical reasons:

Book a CELPIP Test Date

  1. Most immigration applications have validity limits

Most immigration programs, such as the Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) in Canada and the 482 and 485 visas in Australia, require language test results that are less than two years old at the time of application. If your CELPIP results expire during this time, your application may no longer be valid. Learn more about important factors for your PGWP application here.

  1. Your immigration profile may change

Language test results are an important factor in your immigration profile. If your test score expires or if you delay updating it after it expires, you risk:

  • Losing CRS points for IRCC applications
  • Falling below the cutoff needed for an Invitation to Apply for IRCC applications
  1. Programs and scores may change

Immigration requirements and the necessary scores are subject to ongoing changes. By keeping your CELPIP scores up to date, you can ensure you remain competitive. Employment or educational institutions may require recent language proof, usually within two years of application, to ensure your English proficiency scores reflect your current abilities.

  1. Avoid delays and last-minute stress

If you wait until the last moment and your score expires mid-application, it can:

  • Delay your submission
  • Force you to reschedule a test with limited availability
  • Cause you to miss an application window

Keeping your scores up to date can help you avoid these stresses and ensure that you don’t have to rush to find a test date to keep your submission current.
