Alberta invites over 1,100 candidates to apply for provincial nomination

Between July 3–July 15, 2026, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted six draws through which no fewer than 1,167 candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination.

The province targeted candidates working in healthcare, law enforcement, and technology occupations, along with those planning to settle in rural Alberta.

As of July 15, the province has held a total of 62 provincial immigration draws over the course of 2026.

The AAIP’s latest selection round saw candidates invited through the following streams and pathways:

Invitations were heavily concentrated in the Alberta Opportunity Stream, reinforcing a trend that has emerged in Alberta’s draws this year.

While the invitation totals differed across the six draws, the cutoff scores stayed within a two-point range:

Alberta’s recent selections closely mirrored its stated priorities for the year, particularly healthcare and technology occupations, and rural settlement.

The July 3 draw targeting health care workers through Express Entry represents the largest of its kind in 2026 thus far.

According to published AAIP figures, the province has issued no less than 10,736 invitations to apply for provincial nomination over the course of 2026.

Breakdown of the AAIP’s provincial nomination figures

Alberta reports having issued 3,582 nominations against its 2026 allocation of 6,403 spaces as of July 15.

Alberta also used nomination spaces outside its regular Provincial Nominee Program allocation to nominate 50 practice-ready physicians and 12 francophone candidates.

Worker Expressions of Interest and applications awaiting processing

Alberta’s inventory figures also show the number of WEOIs in each worker stream, along with the volume of provincial nomination applications awaiting a decision.

As of July 15, the pool included 36,760 WEOIs, with approximately 62.3% submitted under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

The province reported a total of 1,466 provincial nomination applications in its processing queue as of July 15.
