PEI holds largest provincial immigration draw this year
On July 16, Prince Edward Island (PEI) invited 195 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
The draw continued the province’s established pattern of targeting candidates already living and working in PEI in occupations experiencing labour shortages.
Assess your eligibility for enhanced PNP streams
So far in 2026, PEI has maintained a consistent draw frequency this year, conducting one provincial immigration round per month.
Draw details
The latest draw conducted by the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) saw invitations issued through its Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry streams.
International students who graduated from one of the following post-secondary institutions received priority consideration:
- University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI);
- Holland College; and
- Collège de l’Île.
All PEI PNP invitation rounds held to date in 2026 have prioritized graduates of these three in-province institutions.
Here’s how PEI’s latest draw compares to previous selection rounds:
| Draw date | Invitations issued | Immigration categories targeted |
|---|---|---|
| January 15, 2026 | 26 | *Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry |
| February 19, 2026 | 109 | |
| March 20, 2026 | 101 | |
| April 16, 2026 | 127 | |
| May 21, 2026 | 113 | |
| June 18, 2026 | 182 | |
| July 16, 2026 | 195 |
With the exception of the March 20 round, all PEI draws held in 2026 have followed the province’s published ITA schedule.
*The Labour Impact category comprises three streams: Skilled Worker Stream, Critical Worker Stream, and International Graduate Stream.
As of July 16, PEI has invited a total of 853 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
About the PEI PNP’s upcoming draws
Unlike other provinces and territories, PEI publishes its ITA draw schedule for the year in advance, providing candidates with greater transparency and predictability.
PEI’s invitation schedule indicates that five more draws are expected this year, with selections typically taking place mid-month:
- August 20;
- September 17;
- October 15;
- November 19; and
- December 17.
The province notes, however, that the dates provided are tentative and intended for “general informational purposes only.”
PEI may hold draws earlier or later than scheduled, or add further rounds during the year.
The province has nevertheless maintained a strong record of following its published schedule, with eight of 11 draws in 2025 and six of seven this year occurring on the announced dates.
The province released its ITA schedule on its official immigration webpage on January 7, 2026—one week ahead of its first draw.
How to be considered for PEI’s next draw
To be considered for an invitation to apply, foreign nationals must register through PEI’s official immigration portal and submit an Expression of Interest.
Each profile is reviewed and awarded a score based on the candidate’s potential to contribute to the province’s labour market and economy.
Profiles are ranked using a points-based system that considers the following factors:
- Official language proficiency in English or French;
- Educational background, including level, field, and place of study;
- Work experience and skills connected to in-demand occupations or priority industries;
- Alignment with provincial priorities, including current workforce needs; and
- Employment potential, such as holding a PEI job offer or having previous Canadian work experience.
Profiles with higher scores and stronger evidence of economic integration are generally more likely to be selected.
After receiving an invitation, candidates are given 30 calendar days to submit a complete provincial nomination application.
Successful applicants are granted a provincial nomination, after which they can apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence.
