Today's draw is the second of the month and follows a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on 14 April.

Thus far in 2025, IRCC has issued 31,929 ITAs to candidates through the Express Entry system.

Draws within the last month have focused particularly on PNP candidates, with no other kind of Express Entry draw taking place within April thus far.

This new trend has been especially relevant to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates, who last saw a draw for their program on 5 February 2025. Additionally, IRCC has yet to hold an Express Entry category-based selection for candidates in any of its priority categories this year, except for those with French-language proficiency.

IRCC maintains that it will prioritize candidates within the CEC program and those within its priority categories to apply for permanent residence (PR) this year.

Per the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan, the immigration department hopes to welcome 395,000 new permanent residents to Canada in 2025. The majority (232,150) of these new immigrants will come from the economic immigration allocation for 2025, under which Express Entry falls.

Can my family join me if I receive permanent residence through Express Entry?

Express Entry allows you to include your spouse, common-law partner, or wife or husband in your PR application.

You may also include your dependent children, your spouse or partner’s dependent children, and any dependent children of those dependent children.

If your Express Entry application is successful, any family members included as accompanying will also be granted PR.

IRCC defines a dependent child as either:

  • Under 22 years of age and not a spouse or common-law partner; or

  • 22 years of age or older, who has been financially dependent on their parents since before the age of 22, and is unable to be financially self-sufficient due to a physical or mental condition.

In addition to declaring your spouse/common-law partner and dependents on your PR application, Canadian permanent residents and citizens also have the opportunity to sponsor their parents or grandparents for Canadian immigration through Canada's Parents and Grandparents Program, or to visit Canada through the country's Super Visa program.
