Today's draw is the second CEC draw in as many weeks, with the department issuing 11,000 ITAs in that time frame.
Typically, IRCC holds Express Entry draws on alternate weeks, meaning today's draw comes as a welcome surprise. This pattern not only breaks the regular cadence of Express Entry draws, but also the recent trend of CEC draws, which have featured high CRS cut-offs paired with ITA issuances numbering just 1,000.
The drop in CRS cut-off for today's draw represents a new low for CEC draws in 2025. Before this, the lowest CRS cut-off for the program was 518 points.
This is the fifth Express Entry draw of December. It follows a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on December 15, a healthcare and social services occupation draw on December 11, and the largest Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw of the last 16 months on December 10.
Thus far, IRCC has issued 111,998 ITAs through the Express Entry system in 2025.
Express Entry draws this year have primarily focused on PNP draws, with the remainder of Express Entry ITAs dedicated to CEC candidates, candidates with French-language proficiency, and those in the Express Entry priority occupation categories:
| Draw Type | Number of Draws |
|---|---|
| Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) | 23 |
| Canadian Experience Class (CEC) | 15 |
| French-language proficiency | 8 |
| Healthcare and social services | 6 |
| Education | 2 |
| Trade | 1 |
ITAs by stream-type are detailed below, with the majority of invitations going to candidates in French category draws and the CEC program:
| Draw type | ITAs issued to date |
|---|---|
| French | 42,000 |
| Canadian Experience Class | 36,850 |
| Healthcare and social services | 13,500 |
| Provincial Nominee Program | 9,775 |
| Education | 3,500 |
| Trade | 1,250 |
